Cyclical Interviews: David Tran & Table San Diego

We have all faced numerous challenges throughout this year: pandemic, systemic racial injustice, wildfires and other natural disasters — and, on top of this, church leaders have been working faithfully to answer the question of what it means for the church to be an incarnational, embodied presence in a time of social distancing. We are with you, and we continue to lift up our hearts in prayer.

In these uncertain and unprecedented times, we are finding new ways of communicating with each other. Each month we will share a few stories and an interview from one of our starters or discerners. How can you use it?

    • Watch it and be encouraged.
    • Show your staff or session.
    • Share with your congregation in worship.
    • Remember to pray for church starters and discerners.

We are looking for churches to partner with us who will partner with us in prayer, provide financial grants, and find discerners to help us plant new churches in San Diego. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to help connect you to the faithful innovation happening all over San Diego through Cyclical–even in these uncertain and unprecedented times.

— Rev. Mike McClenahan
Senior pastor of Solana Beach Presbyterian Church and chair of the Cyclical San Diego committee

For our first interview feature, we’re thrilled to introduce you to David Tran, and the new church he is starting this month, Table San Diego.

Even in the midst of all the challenges this year has brought, David has moved from our Discerners to our Starters cohort as he and his wife Sterling launch Table San Diego this month. Now, more than ever, our city needs to hear, witness, and participate in the good news of Jesus. We’re thankful for the innovative, courageous leadership of the Tran family and invite you to join us in supporting their faithful ministry.
